Cyber Essentials Certification awarded to Evotech

2 Jun 2020

We are delighted to announce that we have passed our Cyber Essentials certification, having been externally assessed across our entire organisation for our secure internet facing infrastructure and cyber security operational processes.

The new certification provides customers with additional peace of mind knowing that Evotech takes the security of its own and its customers systems and data extremely seriously and is constantly assessing and looking for ways to improve security risk prevention and detection.

According to Hiscox, one business in the UK is successfully hacked every 19 seconds, with around 65,000 attempts being made to hack small to medium sized businesses every day. Now more than ever, Cyber security is a crucial and necessary function for businesses around the world, however, only thirty-one percent of UK organisations have completed a cyber risk assessment in the last 12 months, according to the UK Government’s report ‘Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2019’.

As a Cyber Essentials accredited company, Evotech is able to prevent everyday cyber-attacks and is able to demonstrate supply chain security in its commitment to data protection and cyber security.

The award certifies that Evotech’s firewalls are properly set up to prevent unauthorised access to its internal networks and that the company has a patch management system in place to regularly update software and operating systems to fix known vulnerabilities.

The company also has anti-malware software installed to protect computers, important data and privacy and all computers and network devices are configured to minimise vulnerabilities. In addition, only authorised individuals have access to user accounts which are managed effectively and provide the minimum level of access for each user to help further protect data.

Cyber Essentials is a government backed and industry supported scheme that provides a framework of security controls that businesses should implement to protect themselves against cyber-attacks. Evotech’s award of Cyber Essentials certification is testament to company’s resolute and committed approach to
cyber security.
