Evotech supports local food bank at Christmas

Recognising the tremendous impact that COVID-19 has placed on families, local company Evotech has donated food and hygiene products to Halifax based CTC Food Bank, at the Gathering Place. This week members of the Evotech team donned their Christmas jumpers and delivered two vans loads of food to support the food bank, which has seen a substantial increase in requests for emergency food parcels since the beginning of the pandemic.

Becky Maslen, Business Development, at CTC The Gathering Place Food Bank says, “We have seen a sharp increase in the number of families visiting the food bank since the beginning of March and we appreciate the support of local companies like Evotech who are helping make individual and family lives better during extreme financial hardship. Last year we were handing out approximately 80 parcels a week, at the moment it is averaging at around 190 a week. This donation will help across all our projects including the Food Bank, Free Cafe and Homeless Shelter. We’d like to thank Evotech on behalf of The Gathering Place.”

We have seen first-hand the financial difficulties the pandemic has caused, and we wanted to help the most vulnerable families in our immediate locality to put food on the table over Christmas.”

The CTC charity provides food parcels for people who are eligible at New Ebenezer and runs a shelter to keep the homeless temporarily housed during the COVID-19 crisis, where an evening meal and breakfast is provided. The charity’s pay what you can café, provides meals for everyone with no obligation to pay and with all donations helping to provide a free meal to those in most need.
