Tackling the Skills Shortage in the M&E Sector
The building maintenance sector is facing a growing skills shortage, driven by an ageing workforce, increasing demand for specialist services and a limited pipeline of new engineers. Ensuring we have the right people and skills in place, both now and in the future, is a key priority for Evotech and its specialist divisions.
We are actively investing in apprenticeships across the Group, creating clear pathways for new talent to learn alongside experienced, time-served engineers. This approach allows vital knowledge and expertise to be passed on before retirement, helping to protect service quality and continuity for our customers.
Alongside apprenticeships, we are broadening our recruitment activity through initiatives such as Cadet Career Fairs and supporting armed forces recruitment, recognising the valuable transferable skills service leavers bring to our industry.
We are proud to be an Armed Forces Employer Silver Award holder.
By combining apprenticeships, early-career engagement and targeted recruitment, we are taking a proactive approach to tackling the skills shortage. Crucially, this strategy ensures the right number of skilled engineers are in place whilst safeguarding the transfer of knowledge from experienced professionals to future generations, supporting long-term resilience, quality and growth across the Evotech Group.

Inspiring the Next Generation at Cadet Careers Fair
Evotech was delighted to attend the Cadet Careers Fair on Saturday 7 February, at York College & University Centre. The event brought together tri-service cadets from the Army, Navy and Air Force for a morning focused on future careers, training and development.
Directors, Mark (R) and John (L) enjoyed speaking with cadets on the Evotech stand, about the wide range of apprenticeships, career pathways and long-term opportunities available across the Group. It was encouraging to meet so many motivated young people keen to learn about technical careers and the skills needed to succeed. Events like this are a valuable chance to share real-world insight, answer questions, and help cadets understand how their interests and training can translate into rewarding careers in industry.
