CO2 – an essential gas for life
on earth but in excess it’s a
ticking bomb?
Evotech Air Quality Director, John Lumb, explores the
harmful effects of CO2 exposure indoors, how we can
monitor levels of the gas and what solutions are
available to help reduce those levels.
Workplaces, schools and colleges frequently have very high levels of CO2 as rooms
have high occupancy rates for significant periods of time throughout the day. In his
recent blog for Air Quality News, John talks about CO2 and explains why it’s a problem
for our planet, our schoolchildren (and indeed all of us), what the consequences are of
high CO2 levels in indoor spaces, and how we can lower harmful levels of the gas.

Evotech supports community football for third year
We are sponsoring Woolton Dynamos Under 12s for a third year. The team have enjoyed much success competing in the Liverpool Premier League and the Merseyside & Halewood League this season and we want to continue to support the team in its next stage of development.
Evotech’s sponsorship will provide for both home and away kits, training equipment and a new 11-a-side goal as in September the team will progress to play 11-a-side matches. This is a huge transition from playing 9-a-side, as both pitch and goal size are much bigger, with more distance to cover on the pitch.
Given the clear benefits of encouraging children to get involved in sport from a young age, being able to support the Woolton Dynamos, over the past few years has been hugely rewarding, with the opportunity to help improve outcomes for young people, build their confidence and support them on their path to a brighter future.

Evotech exhibits at Northern Air Quality conference
In May we were invited to exhibit at the Air Quality News Conference in Manchester, where we were able to showcase the Airthings award-winning air quality monitors.
We heard many speeches from prominent industry experts, including a keynote speech delivered by Dr Maria Neira, Director of the Department of Public Health and Environment at the World Health Organisation (WHO), who talked about the global challenges of reducing air pollution and, why WHO published new guidelines for particulate matter (PM2.5) pollution back in September 2021.
Sarah Woolnough, Chief Executive of the British Lung Foundation and Asthma UK, outlined in her speech, how air pollution contributes to more than 40,000 premature deaths in the UK each year and is also intrinsically linked to significantly increased rates of asthma, lung disease and COPD.
Air Quality News is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with a special publication featuring ‘Why air pollution is the World’s biggest public health issue’. To read the anniversary issue click on the link below.
