Online resource aims to educate children on air quality

Evotech’s indoor air quality partners, Airthings have developed an online resource to educate schoolchildren about the air we breathe, and its impact on health and wellbeing, and the planet’s ecosystem.

CERN scientists at Airthings, created Air for Kids with educators in mind. Tailored content and resources have been gift-wrapped in a fun and manageable way to make learning about the air outside and inside our homes and schools easy and straightforward.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of parents, carers and loved ones have found themselves home schooling during lockdowns and school closures. On top of this, teachers have had to adapt to a new way of working, teaching and engaging their students online, with limited resources.

Airthings has made learning about something we are unable to see, simple and fun, and the website includes quizzes to test knowledge and help make it stick. Along with materials on indoor and outdoor pollution, Airthings have included information on the positive ways we can impact our air, to improve the quality of the air we breathe, both long term and instantly indoors.

Taking it for granted that it’s good enough to breathe, we don’t generally consider the air we breathe each day to survive. By educating the next generation on the specifics of air quality, and people’s impact on the earth’s finely balanced ecosystem, we can help secure future Ambassadors for the planet, and ensure that the air is healthy enough to safely breathe.
